Bathroom Vanity Units

August 31st, 2010 by Mark Farrell

Bathroom vanity units are great for those that need that extra space to store hygiene products, towels and whatever else you feel belongs in your bathroom. Not only do they give you extra space to keep your things hidden but they come in so many styles that they make your bathroom look great as well.

Vanity units have been around for ages and like fine wine the more time that passes the better looking they become. With time technology gets better and so does the look of furniture. Vanities can look classic, country, modern, luxurious and techno. Now they even have vanities that can be mounted to the wall for a more elegant and upscale looking touch. Whatever the choice of vanity be sure to choose the one that makes you feel great about your bathroom every time you step in.

Vanities can be inexpensive and they can be costly as with everything in life. The amount of money you spend on a vanity unit depends on the type you want. Do you like mounted or floor centered? The style depends on, are you into upscale, futuristic, country or simple? The brand that you choose is the last factor that can contribute to the cost, do you want a well known, expensive top of the line name brand or do you want an off brand?

There are many different types available and to walk you through some of them let us describe them below:

  • Bathroom vanity sinks are console sinks that can be attached to a counter top.

  • Sink cabinets offer a choice between single or double sink bowls and your choice of support or non support. You can also choose between free standing, wall mounted or floor mounted and you can choose between a variety of sink shapes.

  • Storage cabinet’s are for storage of you hygiene products, towels, linens, makeup and other objects.

  • Bathroom Taps vanity units offer a choice of taps and there are some taps that offer a filter to help purify water.

  • Handicapped units are for those that aren’t capable to maneuver around as well as others. These units feature lower sinks and are low in height and have space for wheelchair manoeuvring.

  • Console units offer a chair, mirror and table. Some console units come with cabinets, chest drawers and a sink.

Vanity units are not something that we stock here over at Tapshop321 but be sure to check out our sister website Bathshop321 who stock an extensive range of Bathroom Suites and vanity units to suit all tastes

Infra Red Sensor Taps Are The Future

August 30th, 2010 by Mark Farrell

There are hundreds of bathroom taps available on our website but the most attractive in my opinion are those that do not require knobs to turn them on and off. Many home owners who can afford to splash out a bit are turning to this type of tap for many reasons.  Let me introduce the Infra red sensor tap

It reduces grime, less cleaning, convenient if you don’t want to get dirt, dust and grime on your knobs from your hands, helps to conserve water and cuts down on water usage and it prevents less transfer of germs. Automatic taps are the new and improved way to stay healthy and prevent transferrable diseases which is the main reason why families are changing their bathroom taps to these new fangled devices.

If you choose to obtain an automatic tap otherwise known as an infra red motion sensor taps here are some things you may want to keep in mind. There are many motion sensor taps that work with your home’s electrical circuits that require AA batteries so that you won’t have to mess with wiring or hire other contractors to come in and do the job for you.

This depends on the type of tap that you want. Some people seek cost over style and others seek style over cost, then there are those that want both, the style at the right price. To choose the correct tap that fits your liking you should factor in things like your budget, your need, how many bathrooms you will be in need of an automatic faucet for and the type of sinks you have.

You should also take into account that motion sensor taps aren’t just used for sinks but they can also be used for baths as well. If you use an automatic tap for your bath you should keep in mind that the water temperature is controlled through the set, water temperature that runs through your home’s pipes.

So you may want to keep that thought while you decide on an automatic tap being right for you and your family in your bath. In the mean time automatic taps come in many types of mounts, you can mount them to the wall, they can be elevated and they sometimes come with drains. Many of these taps also come in several styles such as Victorian, stainless steel, modern and transitional including several other types.

Tapshop321 currently only stock the one type of sensor tap but there are more to come so keep checking our website out.

    Different Types Of Bathroom Counter-Tops

August 26th, 2010 by Mark Farrell

Although our primary focus for our business is Bathroom Taps and Kitchen Taps here at Tapshop321 we promised our readership a blog that covered all areas which is why we are going into our thoughts on bathroom counter-tops.

A beautiful countertop goes well with any bathroom. They come in many colours, styles and types. Countertops provide additional space to help assist with any type of bathing or primping that you need to do. They are also great for holding lotions, perfume, shower gels and anything else that you hold in your bathroom to show off.

Here are a few types of countertops that homeowners are raving about:

Granite Countertops are easy to clean, they are well worth the money when it comes to life expectancy, stain resistant, and not too expensive. Home owners love granite countertops because of the beauty they bring to bathrooms. Harsh chemicals should not be used to clean this beautiful stone type top, a little warm water and dish detergent will do the trick.

Quartz countertops have a similar look to limestone, granite and marble. They are more durable and stain resistant. These types of countertops are also easy to clean.

Marble is a more commonly used countertop in bathrooms. One problem with tile countertops is the cleaning. Surfaces are easy to clean but tiles can attract grout and mildew between the sealing and crevices which can lead to more cleaning time and you may need to use harsher chemicals. If you are interested in tile countertops go for a larger sized tile, this eliminates the amount of spacing between the crevices and the tiles are laid closer together.

Synthetic solid surface countertops are also a more commonly used countertop for homeowners. They come in many types, colours and brands. These types of counter-tops can require a bit more cleaning than other surfaces but they are worth it for many people. You don’t have much worry with mildew or grime and they are inexpensive.

When shopping for countertops make sure you have a set budget in mind so that you know what price range you are looking for. It is very easy to stray from your budget but if you have one in mind it will help towards picking out your choice of surfaces. While some are attractive to the eye they may not be attractive to your pocket so if you take anything away from this article its stick to your budget. If you are leaning towards a more expensive type of countertop surface you may want to allow a few months time in your budget so that you will be capable of affording a more expensive surface.

    New Blog Is Finally Here

August 25th, 2010 by Mark Farrell

I am proud to announce the launch of our new Tapshop321 blog.  As you can see we have decided to go with a specific theme for our new blog and in the end we have gone for D.I.Y.

We have quite a vast team in here with lots of experience in the D.I.Y arena,  plus we thought people would be more interested in subscribing and reading a  D.I.Y blog rather than  a blog that is 100% dedicated to Bathroom Taps.

We are about to under go some exciting changes here at Tapshop so you will begin to see more than just my ugly mug posting on here.  Please subscribe to our posts by clicking on the button to the top right side and I promise that you won’t be dissapointed especially if you are a D.I.Y enthusiast.

The blog isn’t quite finished yet but I thought it was good enough to launch.  We will continue to make some nice little tweaks to it over the coming weeks so keep your eyes peeled.  I am also going to get the rest of the team to blog about who they are and what they like just so everybody can get a feel for them and what to expect from them going forward.

That’s enough from me now but I will no doubt be back soon.  As always I love receiving feedback and suggestions on how we can improve our blog so if anybody has any get in touch with me directly by contacting me at markf@tapshop321.com

    Ariano Bath Filler Review

August 18th, 2010 by Mark Farrell

It is normal practise here at Tapshop to follow up all purchases and ask our customers to leave a review of the product that they have received. We don’t get many back as its not at the top of many peoples priority list. However when we do we will share them with our readers. Here is our first one:

    Ariano Bath Filler

“Having just purchased one of these lovely bathroom taps for my own bathroom I can honestly say that the picture on the Tapshop main website doesn’t do it justice.

Don’t get me wrong I am not a sad case that enjoys writing about taps but when I was approached via Tapshop after my purchase and invited to write a review I was that pleased with the look and quality I couldn’t resist.

The tap itself looks like it should cost a hell of a lot more than it actually does and the weight of it only adds to the feel of quality. The taps turn on with ease and are a joy to use. I know there isn’t much more to say about a tap so I will probably leave it there although fitting it was easy also.

I purchased some easy fit connectors which made the installation of this tap a doddle. I cannot recommend this tap enough so if you need somebody to help you decide then take this review as that.

    Many thanks Tapshop

    Lee Thompson”

What a nice review hopefully now that we have published this one there will be many more to come
